More Omanis at uni
Oman: Dr Rawiyah bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, Oman's Minister of Higher Education, has praised the role that private sector higher education has played in enabling more Omanis to attend university, reported Gulf News. The minister said that 20.8% of school leavers went on to higher education in 2001-2, but, in 2005-6, the figure had risen to 31.2%. She said almost 17,000 students now attend private universities.
