What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words "customer service"? Probably not something suitable for a family newspaper. However, thanks to the immediacy and interactivity of the Internet, things are starting to change. Consider Chad Youngblut, a 27-year-old Web administrator from Mount Dora, Fla. A few months ago, Youngblut was fed up with his Comcast Internet service because he could only get online on one computer at a time. After calls to customer service and visits from technicians he decided to take his frustration out on his blog with a post, "Comcast is the devil."

Beijing Boosts Customer Service Tech for Olympics

Beijing is focusing on upgrading technologies for better service for the upcoming Olympic Games next year. The Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology said most of its funds for technological upgrades in 2007 went to Olympic-related projects, the Ministry of Science and Technology Web site reported on Tuesday. The government contracted several research institutes and hi-tech companies to build a multilingual call center for next August's Games. The center would provide help in 12 major global languages, the Web site said.
